ABOUT SEMI-INGROUND POOLS

SEMI-INGROUND pools, which are sometimes referred to as Onground Pools, are INGROUND pools that are raised out of the ground. They use the same strong 14G galvanized steel panels like INGROUND pools. The multiple heavy panels come in various sizes ranging from 3’ to 8’ wide and are bolted together to form the shape of the pool. There are various depths of SEMI-INGROUND pools from 42” panels to 60” panels, very similar to an INGROUND pool. This makes them much stronger than a typical ABOVEGROUND pool that only use a one-piece thin corrugated wall. These are NOT aboveground pools dug into the ground. The cost for a SEMI-INGROUND POOL is a little less than an INGROUND because we are not including a concrete deck. They are all custom ordered and do not come in pre-fab kits.

You would choose a SEMI-INGROUND pool if you were wanting to have a top-quality pool but want to built your own wood or composite deck around it. We offer our SEMI-INGROUND pools as flat bottoms, but you may upgrade to a deep end.

HOW ARE SEMI-INGROUND POOLS INSTALLED?

We excavate the ground with a mini-excavator and the SEMI-INGROUND is sunken into the ground about 2’-3’. Depending on panel height, the finished pool height is about 1’ - 2’ above grade. After the excavation, we install CONCRETE PILES under all our SEMI-INGROUND pools that make them incredibly strong and help prevent shifting and heaving. Then we set-up, level and bolt the steel wall panels together. After the panels are assembled, we then pour a CONCRETE FOOTING around and under the walls, so they are locked in and become a solid permanent installation.

This is much different than an ABOVEGROUND pool that just sits on the ground and floats up and down with land heaving. In Winnipeg, because of our frost heave, ABOVEGROUND pools will shift up and down. This may cause issues with the liner getting pinched under the wall and may tear the liner.  Plus, the consistent movement of the pool may cause buckling of the pool walls. Therefore, a typical ABOVEGROUND pool adds very little value when you sell your home. Do not confuse ABOVEGROUND pools with SEMI-INGROUND pools because they are not the same thing. SEMI-INGROUND pools are like INGROUND pools that add value to your home because they are permanent and substantial just like INGROUND Pools.  

Once the walls are up we trowel the floor and install the liner. The plumbing lines and equipment is installed the same time. We hire professional electricians and gas fitters to complete the pool equipment installation. Once everything is running, we vacuum the pool, add the salt and show you how it all works!

MODERN RECTANGLE VOS SEMI

The Modern Rectangle VOS Semi-Inground comes with an interior Corner VOS (Vinyl Over Step) and you have 3 other optional steps; Full Width, Step & Ledge Combo or Corner Step & Bench Combo. The step is built from steel and finished with concrete tops. Then the liner material is installed on top of the step. The liner is upgraded to a 30 Gauge because of the VOS. Like all our Semi-Inground pools this has a flat bottom, but you may upgrade the pool to a deep end. The Modern Rectangle VOS is available in 4 wall panels heights: 42”, 48”, 54” and 60”. There is a liner retainer style of coping so you must install a 6” flat board on top of the steel. Like all Semi-Inground pools this is ready for your deck.  We do not install wood decks.

STANDARD SEMI-INGROUND

Prestige offers 3 shapes of standard Semi-Inground pools: Grecian, Oval and Rectangle. They each come with a drop-in roto-molded step which is either a Festiva or Majestic. The liner is a 20 Gauge material but can be upgraded to a 30 Gauge. Like all our Semi-Inground pools this has a flat bottom, but you may want the deep end option, although you must also upgrade the liner to 30 Gauge. All the standard styles come in 2 panel heights either 48” or 52”. The coping is a 4” white plastic cap on top of the wall or a liner retainer if you want to bring the wood over top the steel.  Like all Semi-Inground pools this is ready for your deck.  We do not install wood decks.
